Early Life
Raised on Rhythm - How Our Early Life Shaped Twin-X and our Lives Beyond Music.
Before anyone knew our name, it was just the two of us Taiwo and Kehinde singing in our church choir back in Ibadan. We didn’t think much of it then. We were just two brothers harmonizing for the joy of it. But looking back now, that was where the spark began. We grew up in a house where music was always playing gospel, Yoruba folk, even the sounds from the streets outside. All of it shaped us. It taught us that music isn’t just sound; it’s a way to tell your truth. And that’s what we’ve been chasing ever since.

The Birth of Twin-X
We were born Taiwo and Kehinde Akintoye Twin-X in Ogun State. Our dad was in the military, so we moved around a lot, living in different parts of Nigeria. That meant switching schools often especially Army Children Primary Schools. It wasn’t easy, but our mum, being a teacher, made sure we didn’t fall behind too much. Eventually, we settled in Ibadan, and that gave us some stability. Growing up, music was always there. Our dad filled the house with the sounds of Ebenezer Obey, Orlando Owoh, and Bob Marley that was the soundtrack of our childhood. At the same time, we were discovering our own groove: Shalamar, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Sonny Okosun, Lijadu Sisters, Diana Ross... those voices shaped the way we saw music. They didn’t just entertain us they taught us how to feel it, how to live it. That blend of sounds, both from our roots and from beyond, became the foundation of our musical journey.
